In the last years, the meat processing industry presented an important growth, mainly from the liberalization of the market and the declaration of free country of foot-and-mouth without vaccination. This sector has maintained an important position within the uruguayan manufacturing industry, noting that 29% of meat exports in Uruguay belong to companies audited by BDO Uruguay. This figure represents 5.7 of the total national exports.
